The update extends an important security certificate that these services rely on. These models are no longer eligible for modern iOS updates, making this release especially important for users who still rely on them. This update comes more than three years after the last iOS 12 release in January 2023. While the certificate does not expire until 2027, Apple recommends installing the update early to avoid future service issues and to help catch any lingering bugs. Apple has unveiled their latest update for their operating system with iOS 26.1. This new update will be available for iPhone 11 and onwards, iPhone SE 2 and later models, and iPhone Air.
