They’ve done a similar thing before with the HONOR X7C, which we deemed should’ve been better marketed as splash-resistant despite the marketing videos showing the phone underwater most of the time. The new device will highlight an all-angle water-resistant design, a feature many Filipinos will surely find useful in a country where sudden rain and spills are common. Water resistant claims included the following Samsung Galaxy phones: S7, S7 Edge, A5 (2017), A7 (2017), S8, S8 Plus and Note 8. In dictionaries, waterproof is defined as “not allowing water to go through,” while water-resistant is defined as “able to resist water to a certain degree.” Reading it side by side, the two words seem to mean almost the same thing and are almost always interchanged when used to describe water protection. ‘Water-resistant’ items can resist water, but not entirely prevent it from damaging the device. Most watches fall under the category of water-resistant. If your device has no IP rating but has the label ‘water-resistant’ attached to it, do remember to take caution when near liquids or sources of water.
