The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved the PHP 2.00 fare hike, increasing the minimum jeepney fare to PHP 10.00. The LTFRB recently approved the PHP 2.00 permanent jeepney fare hike for the NCR, Region 3, at Region 4-A, in response to the petition that transport groups filed in September 2017. In July 2018, the LTFRB approved a PHP 1.00 provisional fare hike, raising the minimum fare from PHP 8.00 to PHP 9.00. Now that the PHP 2.00 fare hike has been approved, the provisional increase will no longer take effect, thus the minimum fare will be PHP 10.00. GMA News has reported that some passengers are still shocked at the implementation of the new fare hike. The DOTC defended their decision as it has been over a decade since there was a fare hike on MRT-3. They can then tag the group on their respective social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter) and/or include hashtags such as #StrikeTheHike, #SelfieProtest and #NoToMRTLRTFareHikes on their post.
