Who would’ve thought that taking Selfies can be used for a good cause? Well, BAYAN-NCR did, in fact they’ve organized an online protest where netizens are actually encouraged to take a selfie to express their dismay about the impending increase of LRT/MRT fare.

To participate, citizens can upload a picture of themselves on FB, Instagram or Twitter with an anti-MRT/LRT slogan. They can then tag the group on their respective social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter) and/or include hashtags such as #StrikeTheHike, #SelfieProtest and #NoToMRTLRTFareHikes on their post.

Sa mga lumipas na taon, lahat ng bilihin, kabilang ang mga bagay na kinakailangan upang patakbuhin ang MRT at LRT, ay nagtaas na ng presyo, subalit ang pamasahe ng mga naturang pampublikong transportasyon ay hindi tumataas. Oo, mas masaya kung mananatiling mababa ang pamasahe sa MRT at LRT, pero kung susuriin mabuti ang realidad, e panahon na para magtaas. Nagrereklamo tayo kung bakit pangit ang mga tren natin. Bakit di natin tingnan kung magkano lang binabayad natin?

If the gov’t really subsidizes that much, saan nila kinukuha ang bonus ng mga empleyado ng MRT/LRT na higit pa sa 2 months sweldo? I’m not an anti nor pro for this fare hike thing. I’m also a coomuter of trains, ang sakin lang sana maliquidize ng tama ang mga gastusin. Lahat ng sumsakay sa tren hindi naman dahil sa murang pamasahe, we’ve got no choice. Mas mahal na nga ang pamasahe sa bus, aabutin ka pa ng 2 hrs dahil sa traffic jam.

One of the reasons why a cheaper MRT fare (compared to buses) doesn’t make sense IMO. Speed is a convenience worth a premium.

In Hong Kong it’s cheaper to take the bus than the MTR for example.

natutuwa ako na maraming nagcocomment dito na pro kayu sa fare hike pero napansin ko na parepareho din pla kayu na selfish tulad ng mga komunista…pabor dapat tayo sa fare hike para gumanda serbisyo nila at maging mas convenient sa mga tao ang pagsakay ng tren HINDI para mabawasan ang mga taong sumasakay dahil d na afford ang pamasahe…masyado kayong makasarili ang lrt at mrt ay tinayo para mas mapabilis ang pagtransport natin sa ibang lugar at mabawasan amg trapiko hindi para lang sa mga mayayaman tsktsk

Bakit, sino ka ba para sabihin sa mga tiga-probinsya na responsibilidad nila ang i-subsidize ang pasahe ng mga gumagamit ng MRT/LRT sa Maynila? Eh kung mataas ang presyo ng ticket dahil iyun ang hinihingi na operations cost- anu iyun- pipilitin na isubsidize parang lang pagbigyan iyung mga walang pambayad?

OI MAY BOBO NA ULI SA WEBSITE HAHAHA tanga wala akong sinasabi na dapat pa rin isubsidize pabor panga ako sa fare hike ang sinsabi ko lang masyadong matapobre ung iba na dapat ang convenient at mabilis na uri ng transportasyon ay para lang sa mga mayayaman,bat natin irerestrict sa mga mayayaman kung kaya naman ireach out sa mga mahihirap? pero naiintindihan kita nasama siguro sa flashflood ung utak mo at common sense kaya kung anuanu cinocomment mo LOL

Tama lang itaas ang MRT/LRT ticket. Iyung sa MRT lang, never pa nagtaas ng presyo yan since binuksan yan for service. Para duun sa og*g na nagsabe na 6 million per day are okay na sa daily operations- bakit magkano na ba ang kuryente ngayon compared nung year 2000? Kung gusto niyo mag tren magbayad kayo ng tama, huwag niyo i-asa sa buwis ng bayan. Kung poor kayo mag bus na lang kayo, masyado kayo choosy.

og*g ka din sir, me sinabi ba ako labis labis ang 6 million for operations? malay ko at paki ko sa operations nila kung magkano kinikita na. Kung iniisip mong mas mura ang straight byahe ng bus ngkakamali k. Hindi lahat ng nagMMRT bilis ang habol meron din ngtitipid. Pareho lang tayo agree sa fare hike ang saken lang wag sobrang taas. Pag pinrivatize na yan mala NLEX kalalabasan nyan maganda pero sobrang mahal.

Walang pake alam ang MRT/LRT kung minimum wage ang sahod mo. Hindi responsibilidad ng pamahalaan na taasan ang sahod mo o kaya bigyan ka ng trabaho na mataas ang sweldo. Wala rin pakealam ang mga tiga-Davao, tiga-Cebu sa problema mo sa pamasahe araw araw. Kung gusto mo gumamit ng serbisyo na matino, magbayad ka ng matino = bayaran mo ang presyo ng ticket na walang subsidy ang pamahalaan. Kung 50 pesos iyun o 30 pesos o 100 pesos wala ka ng pake sa presyo na iddikta ng normal operations ng pagpapatakbo ng tren.

Dapat na talaga itaas. Dahil sa sobrang mura, lahat na lang ata sumasakay dyan. Dapat mahati pasahero, yun iba kung di kaya, mag bus na lang, para kumita naman ang mga driver at konduktor.

Parang Di kapanipaniwala mga comments na nababasa ko! Feeling ko isang tao lang ang nagpost ng lahat ng comments o mga ghost posers lang na nagsasabi gusto nila ng fare hike. Seriously, sinong Pilipino na may matinong utak ang gusto ipa “privatize” o sa mas madaling salita, “IBENTA”
ng Ang isang Pubic transportation system sa private sector! Mawawalan ng kontrol ang bayan dito gaya ng sa presyo ng gasolina at kuryente Wag tayo papadala sa mga comments na nababasa natin. Hindi porke marami ang nagsasabi na pabor sila ay ito na agad ang gusto ng mas nakararami. Minsan PEKE ang mga comments na ito na pinopost lamang ng mga tao na gusto mag manipula sa opinyon ng iba. Wag sana madelete ang comment ko.

Sir halatang di nyu binabasa mga comments namin…halos lahat ng mga nagcomment ay pabor sa fare hike pero ung mga nagcomment sa privatization na kakaunti lang ay pawang mga anti tulad ko maganda naman hangarin mo dito kaya ka nagcomment kaso mahirap din na inaarawaraw ang katangahan d naunlad bansa natin dahil jan.

Mga buwis ng mga katulad kong probinsyano at mga hindi gumagamit ng LRT/MRT ang nag-subsidize ng mababang pasahe. Dapat lang na itaas ang pamasahe dyan, UNFAIR sa amin!

I dont have an economics major pero based sa statistics average daily commuter sa MRT is 500,000 x 12php(minimum) thats 6 million a day kulang pa ba yun. Sa sobrang buwakaw sa pasahero ng ibang kundoktor at sa sikip ng edsa sa rush hour goodluck nalang sa pag gising ng maaga at sa pagtayo sa bus. My salary is just above the edge ng minimum wage a 5-10 peso increase will be fine anything more will hurt our wallets. Kung luluwag ang MRT tulad ng trains sa LRT2 ok na ok yun consistent pa yung aircon :D

pro ako sa fare hike pero anti sa pagprivatization kahit sabihin ng government na mas maganda daw kase ganito ung logic…pag private humawak nyan d na yan magiging abotkaya kasi magiging business na yan kasi lahat naman ng tao na nagbubusiness ay syempre gusto yumaman and heres the logic:Private:di lang operation, maintenance expenses,etc. ang sisingilin nila pati syempre sweldo(malaki esp. for higher positions) at TUBO(malaki din para yumaman sila as usual).pag GOVT: syempre ung expenses para mapagpatuloy ung pagpapatakbo nito,ung sa sweldo di yan masyado mataas kasi ung mga hahawak ng higher positions ay govt agency na rin kaya isahan na lng;sa tubo naman meron di pero mapupunta lahat un sa kaban ng bayan at sa improvements ng lrtmrt =)

I’m pro price hike, but i think the LRT/MRT should stay as government ran and not private. Extra income will help fund expansion, its worth it

Not being as anti poor but I am pro fare hike sa mrt-Lrt.

kaya maraming sumasakay dyan dahil mabilis na, mura pa. Hinde ba dapat nasa middle yan? What I mean is Bus and jeeps are slow but cheap, taxi are comfort, fast but expensive…mrt-lrt should be comfortable, fast and not so expensive as taxi.

Dahil sa mabilis at mura na yan, sa opinion ko, un quality at safety ng pasahero nawawala na…plus the fact nalalaspag na yun train.

Hmmm hinde kaya ok na may oras na mura ang train (off peak) at may oras na mahal? Nah…baka mas maraming magreklamo. :)

i pro hike and o believe it’s about time. take note that taxpayer’s money is spend on this. taxpayers na hindi lang mga taga metro manila na hindi naman nila nagagamit. it only makes sense na dapat naman siguro tayong mga taga manila maghandle ng costs since mga taga manila lang naman ang gumagait nito…

Isipin nyo nalang ung subway train sa Japan inaabot ng P100 dulo to dulo isang line lang na may 19 stations. May mas mahaba pa siguro mas mahal na. Sobrang ganda wala kang hihilingin pa.

Privatize the MRT/LRT companies! We need quality mass transport in this country! I don’t need cheapskates saying they want a lower MRT/LRT fare and contending themselves with dilapidated facilities! I’d even pay a 100 bucks for a ride if a privatized MRT/LRT company improves the operations and facilities of the trains by 1000%.

Hay pinoy nga naman, gusto lahat mura or libre. Bakit kailangan buong bansa ang magsubsidize sa LRT at MRT? Eh taga Metro Manila man lang ang nakikinabang. Mabuti may fare hike para iwas siksikan.

Sus, kailangan na talaga taasan ang pasahe ng MRT/LRT. YES to fare hike! Ang government walang pera. Sa laki ng population sa Metro Manila dapat may malawak ang coverage ng light rail system sa atin. Pero hindi makagawa ng more lines ang government kasi walang pera. Puro subsidy. Transport system is there for convenience, and there’s a price for it. Kung ayaw magbayad eh pwedeng pwede maglakad.

I’m for the price hike. The MRT prices are way lower than it should be. The lack of funding has seen the stations and the trains fall to disrepair and in the quest to make the most out of the tiny fares, they are limiting the number of trains running to maximize passenger load. The resulting congestion of passengers is not only a safety and health hazard, but has turned the trains into a haven for pickpockets.

The MRT/LRT is supposed to be the fastest way to move people from point A to point B in the metro. To me it doesn’t make sense that this would be much cheaper than riding a bus.

ayos lang sana kung maraming pera ang Pilipinas para masubsidize ang expenses ng LRT/MRT. if we want to maintain the LRT/MRT, kelangan talaga ng pera at as of now, fare hike lang talaga ang solusyon. ang gusto ba nila ay mag-allot ng malaking budget ang national government kung saan NCR lang ang makikinabang? pano naman yung the rest of the philippines, kung saan pwedeng magamit yung budget for the rest of the country?

This populist agenda is obviously being spearheaded by communist Bayan and their cohorts in the House. They want the government to become a welfare one that gives anything that the citizens want for free.

Sorry, communists, but the fare hike is gonna happen whether you like it or not. Why don’t you run along to Mother China and ask for help then?
