According to PCGamer's report on this, they reached out to the Krafton PR team who then confirmed the new name but declined to explain how it came to be. "Krafton is actively expanding the PUBG brand through a variety of new experiences set in its universe," a PR representative said. Krafton has announced to shut down PUBG Lite globally effective April 29. Krafton has confirmed the news of the game's shutdown through a notice on its official website. During the strenuous times of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that PUBG LITE was able to provide our fans a fun way to stay safe," Krafton said in the release. Krafton also mentioned that they had made the difficult decision to close the service after much deliberation.
