Along with the announcement of the LG V40 ThinQ comes the company's first wearable hybrid smartwatch, the Watch W7. The LG Watch W7 combines the mechanical and digital side of a watch and comes with a mechanical watch-only mode which disables the "smart" functions. It has a stainless steel body that features quartz movement, altimeter, barometer, stopwatch, timer, and compass. It is powered by WearOS by Google and features a battery that can last up to 3-4 days in a single charge and 100 days if the mechanical watch-only mode is enabled. Enrolled consumer devices will now officially continue to receive critical security patches until October 12, 2027. While we would've enjoyed if Microsoft called it the "Extended Extended Security Updates program," it seems like they fully intend for this extension to fly under the radar. DICT officials emphasized that the deployment is heavily modeled after successful international citizen-centric systems like Singapore's Singpass and Australia's myGov. Moreover, we feel like these companies are looking at something more as each one are confirming that they're working on something else other than a smartphone or a tablet -- specifically a smartwatch. Samsung has already confirmed that they are working on a smartwatch, while companies such as LG, Apple and Google were reported to be working on one too.
