Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas wants Mobile CCTVs (closed circuit television) in Metro Manila in order to ensure peace in order during big events in the country. Roxas has ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to acquire Mobile CCTVs to help monitor parts of the Metro and immediately address problems during crowd-drawing events such as the President's State of the National Address (SONA), EDSA People Power Revolution, and the Feast of the Black Nazarene. In addition to Mobile CCTVs, Roxas has also ordered the installaton of additional CCTVs in all 38 police stations in Metro Manila and to coordinate with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to further utilize their 210 CCTVs installed in different areas in the metropolis. Surprisingly, very few people are using PLDT WeRoam -- a service which has practically been supplanted by SmartBro Mobile 3G. uMobile on the other hand, though an autonomous telco is still considered a Smart/PLDT property and their free ad-supported 3G services will certainly bump up their total numbers.
