HUAWEI has officially revealed the design of its upcoming Mate 80 series and confirmed that the phones will launch in China on November 25, alongside the new Mate X7 foldable. Pre-orders for the Mate 80 lineup are already open on HUAWEI’s Vmall store. The series will include four models; the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max, and the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design. The Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro share a similar look, featuring a new circular rear camera module with three cameras, including a periscope lens. The Mate 80 Pro Max adds a quad-camera setup with dual periscope lenses, while the high-end Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design features an octagon-shaped camera module and up to 20GB RAM. Huawei has been fervently using their own K3V2 1.5GHz quad-core processor on their flagship smartphones so it's surprising that they've moved on to a Qualcomm chip for the Ascend Mate 2. It also solves one other issue -- the lack of LTE connectivity (in our Ascend Mate review, we mentioned the absence of LTE as disappointing). The refreshed Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G addresses all the issues we had with the original device.
