Mediatek has announced two new chipsets specifically created for Chromebooks, the MediaTek Kompanio 520 and MediaTek Kompanio 528. The Kompanio 520/528 runs on an octa-core chip, headlined by a dual ARM Cortex-A76 processor (520 runs at 2.0GHz; 528 at 2.2GHz). The MediaTek Kompanio 540 is now official. As per MediaTek, Chromebooks powered by the Kompanio 540 offer up to 35% longer battery life compared to other options. MediaTek has unveiled its new Kompanio Ultra 910 chipset, aimed at boosting the performance of Chromebooks.
