#Messages app end of support

Samsung has announced that its Samsung Messages app will be discontinued in July 2026. Samsung has announced the end of service to their Samsung Messages app. Samsung suggests Google Messages for their features such as RCS support, improved spam protection and AI-powered tools. However, newer devices, such as models starting from the Samsung Galaxy S26, will no longer support downloading Samsung Messages. Users can switch to Google Messages through in-app prompts or by manually setting it as the default messaging app via the Play Store. End-to-end encrypted Apple and Google RCS messaging is rolling out in beta after an effort by Apple and Google to improve secure texting. The update brings encryption to RCS, which replaces SMS and lets users send messages more privately across different devices. The feature is becoming available to iPhone users who operate iOS 26.5 and to Android users who use Google Messages through their supported carriers.
