Xiaomi has decided to remove background video playback in a HyperOS update (MIUI 15). Background video playback has been a thoughtful feature since MIUI 12. But now, the video toolbox UI will not offer this option for playback with the screen off in HyperOS (MIUI 15). It’s also important to note that Xiaomi is moving towards China-exclusive MIUI software, with other countries provided with HyperOS. However, MIUI 12, MIUI 13, MIUI 14 and HyperOS users may also refrain from updating their software to avoid the feature being disabled. A stable version of Xiaomi's MIUI 14 is now being rollout out globally to all Xiaomi 12 flagship series of smartphones.
