For the uninitiated, AMD FreeSync is a royalty-free technology that reduces, if not eliminates, screen tear which is usually caused by the non-optimized communication between the monitor and the graphics card. When paired to a GCN 1.1 graphics card (or any AMD graphics card from here on out), a FreeSync monitor connected via DisplayPort should provide a smoother gameplay that doesn't come at the cost of lag which we all saw with V-Sync. Samsung is the first manufacturer that announced an Ultra-High Definition monitor that supports FreeSync out of the box. LG has unveiled the UltraGear evo GX9, the brand's new OLED gaming monitor. The LG UltraGear evo GX9, or the 39GX950B OLED monitor, is the first 39-inch gaming monitor to offer a 5K2K resolution of 5120 × 2160. The monitor supports a 165Hz refresh rate at full resolution and up to 330Hz in WFHD mode. It also includes AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility.
