The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) are offering free rides to passengers experiencing issues with the new cashless payment system’s pilot run. MRT-3 now accepts cashless payments (GCash, QR Ph) following a pilot test run. For cashless payments, commuters can now simply scan the QR code on ticket booth counters. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is introducing cashless payments for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT). We previously reported that this was already in effect via MRT-3 with payments in GCash/QRPh. To reiterate, the first phase of the cashless payments rollout will start next month. Moreover, with the booking and cashless payments powered by PayMaya, citizens who avail of tests through PRC only need to show up at the PRC collection sites at their scheduled time.
