Billy Zhang, OPPO's VP of Overseas Sales and Services, has now made it public during the European launch of the OPPO Reno8 series that the company plans to "take the charger out of the box in the next year for several products". This isn't the first time a smartphone company has removed included chargers, with Apple originally removing its charging brick when it released the iPhone 12 and with Samsung following suit with its Galaxy S21. As Zhang further stated that users can continue to use the same charger when upgrading to a new smartphone. Although nothing is set in stone for now, Zhang has made it clear that the company does plan to remove the chargers in some of its devices and that some may in fact still carry a charger in the box. “It’s not that easy for consumers to get access to [SuperVOOC chargers], so we have to keep it in the box.
