Pangilinan (MVP), Chariman of PLDT-Smart, has recently signed a memorandum of agreement between the Philippine government and private sector partners to transition to 911 emergency service. The country currently uses 117, aka Patrol 117, as the national emergency telephone number, but under the Duterte administration, it will soon be replaced by 911 which will be linked to the Nationwide Emergency Response Center. The 911 hotline was implemented by Duterte in Davao during his time as the city's Mayor. PLDT, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), has launched the Unified 911 system in the Philippines. It will be hosted via ePLDT’s Pilipinas Cloud, which keeps data accessible and secure. Its importance was highlighted by PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V.
