PLDT, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), has launched the Unified 911 system in the Philippines 10.

The system essentially aims to deliver quicker, reliable emergency support nationwide. It combines fire, medical, police, and rescue services under one centralized hotline to improve coordination between agencies.

Among its features include CCTV integration, geo-fencing, GPS tracking, and live video streaming. It will be hosted via ePLDT’s Pilipinas Cloud, which keeps data accessible and secure.
Its importance was highlighted by PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.

‘At its core, this is a promise made by the government to its citizens. In times of danger, Filipinos can call one number and find assistance and help. When lives are on the line, every second matters, and when lives are at stake, our sacred duty to our people crystallizes,’ said the executive.

The rollout for the system covers key areas across the country. This includes Metro Manila, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro, along with seven satellite centers. The initiative will also see that language barriers between callers and responders are reduced.
