PLDT has announced that select areas in the country will have their telephone numbers changed from 7-digits to 8-digits this year. 10-10-2017 dated last October 2017, telecommunication operators are instructed to expand the telephone number range from 7-digit to 8-digit format. NTC assigned select Public Telephone Entities (PTE), which serves as a prefix to the original phone number, to various telecom operator and number 8 is assigned to PLDT. The additional number 8 will be implemented starting on October 6, 2019, from 12:00 MN to 5:00 AM, to area codes with the number 02 like Metro Manila, Rizal Province, San Pedro, Laguna, and Bacoor, Cavite. PLDT HOME customers will have downtimes during the cut-over which means that there will be no dial tone in their telephone lines.
