Qualcomm has introduced at the Augmented World Expo (AWE) the new Snapdragon XR1 platform which is the world's first dedicated Extended Reality (XR) platform, which combines augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR). The Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 is the company's next-generation platform that offers mainstream users high-quality XR experiences while enabling OEMs to develop mainstream devices. Qualcomm Technologies also announced that OEMs Meta, VIVE, Vuzix and Picoare, are already developing on the first dedicated XR1 platform. Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon C platform, a new processor designed for entry-level laptops priced starting at around USD 300. Qualcomm said laptops powered by Snapdragon C are expected to launch later this year from brands including Acer, HP, and Lenovo. Qualcomm has announced the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processors. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 includes AI-powered camera features, Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 for gaming, up to 21% better GPU performanc, and support for Wi-Fi 7 and ultra-fast 5G connectivity. According to Qualcomm, upcoming devices powered by Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 will come from brands including HONOR and REDMI.
