Meta’s popular Ray-Ban smart glasses are now at the center of a major legal battle. Smart glasses company Solos has filed a lawsuit against Meta and its partner EssilorLuxottica, claiming the Ray-Ban smart glasses were built using ideas taken from Solos’ patented technology. According to the lawsuit, Solos says even the first-generation Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses already used concepts covered by its patents. Solos claims this has hurt its business badly, costing it big opportunities in the growing smart glasses market. The company is reportedly seeking billions of dollars in damages and is asking the court to stop further sales of Meta’s smart glasses. Back in April, we first saw updates when the app was rebranded to Meta AI, but this time it’s no longer just an update—it’s the full launch of the AI-powered smart glasses in the local market. On the design side, the smart glasses are available in different Ray-Ban frames, including the new Skyler Shiny Chalky Gray, giving users both style and function.
