Samsung recently announced the Exynos Modem 5100, the world's first 5G modem for smartphones in their latest press release. The Samsung Exynos Modem 5100 supports sub-6GHz and mmWave spectrums which are under 3GPP's 5G standard as well as legacy networks (2G GSM/CDMA, 3G WCDMA, D-SCDMA, HSPA, and 4G LTE). This test simulated a real-world cellular network condition that utilizes a 5G base station and 5G end-user equipment prototype embedded with the Exynos Modem 5100. The Exynos Modem 5100 also offers Radio Frequency IC (RFIC), Envelope Tracking (ET) and Power Management IC (PMIC) solutions, all of which will be available to customers by the end of 2018.
