Xiaomi, in partnership with Samsung, has announced that it will develop Redmi's first 64MP camera smartphone along with a teaser that shows a 108MP phone is on the way as well. Xiaomi will be using the 64MP Samsung ISOCELL GW1 camera sensor in its upcoming Redmi smartphone. The ISOCELL GW1 is composed of a 1/1.7-inch sensor with a 0.8?m pixel size. To achieve the said image result, this sensor uses a 4-in-1 pixel binning. The company didn't state what kind of sensor they will be using; however, it is most likely that it will be another Samsung ISOCELL sensor. The much awaited Omnia i900 from Samsung (see specs here) was released in the Philippines yesterday. While everybody is getting frustrated with the supposed Globe iPhone 3G pricing, the Samsung Omnia will definitely be a formidable alternative to the former. The rumored new Samsung i8510 that tows in an 8-megapixel camera and a 16GB internal storage becomes official.
