Shopee has increased the Sellers' transaction fee to 2% plus VAT for all successful orders in the platform. According to Shopee's notification from a seller's account, starting August 1, 2020, all successful orders will have a 2% Transaction Fee plus VAT which will be placed on the buyer paid amount. The Seller Transaction Fee is a handling fee that covers the cost of the payment transactions. The said fee is not new as Shopee implemented a 1.5% transaction fee without the VAT since last year. The increase to the Seller's Transaction Fee with the addition of VAT will affect the merchant's sales in the digital platform. A Shopee seller shared with us that the increase in fee will affect items with small markups. "With Shopee's increase in seller's transaction fee + VAT, with the competition, I believe we can no longer gain or earn anything.
