Starting in Metro Manila, select Smart subscribers will be able to receive the Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) service which provides better call quality than 2G or 3G. Smart has stated that VoLTE-capable devices such as Samsung Galaxy S8 and higher, Huawei Mate 20 or P20, and others are required to be able to use the service. Globe has partnered with Grab to improve its mobile network by collecting real-world data from daily trips across Metro Manila.
