The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said banning Telegram in the Philippines is no longer being considered. The DICT has reached an agreement with Telegram and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC). The DICT said in a Facebook post that a deal has been made after a meeting with Telegram representatives Ronak Singh and Abhimanyu Yadav. The agreement aims to create a safer digital space and includes several commitments from Telegram. Earlier this week, the DICT had hinted the possibility of banning Telegram. Telegram has now introduced Stories into the app, but this is only limited to Premium subscribers. Telegram Premium was first introduced back in June 2022, along with celebrating over 700 million active users. Telegram Premium subscribers get more features like -- sending files of up to 4GB and enjoy doubled limits of being able to join up to 1000 channels, create up to 20 chat folders with up to 200 chats each, add a 4th account to any Telegram app, pin 10 chats in the main list, and reserve up to 20 public t.me links.
