According to Transcelestial, it aims to help telcos, ISPs, Enterprises, and the Government bridge the shortfall. Transcelestial's investment is the first to be publicly announced from Ayala's USD 180-million venture fund. Globe has officially launched Starlink's satellite-to-mobile service in the Philippines after receiving approval from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), making it the first local telecom operator to commercially offer direct-to-device satellite connectivity in the country. The launch comes as the Philippines continues to face connectivity challenges due to its geography and frequent natural disasters. The Philippines remains among the slowest countries in transitioning away from 3G networks, with most mobile users still relying on older devices that do not support newer voice technologies. Compared to neighboring countries, the Philippines trails behind Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand in VoLTE adoption.
