Just a few months after its Preview version was released, Microsoft is now set to roll out the Windows 8.1 update to devices currently running on Windows 8 starting at 12:00am on October 18th in New Zealand or 8:00pm on October 17th local time. The update, as we pointed out on one of our previous post, will bring a handful of new features that are missing on the current version of Windows OS, including customizations to further improve the overall user experience. Among the more notable improvements on Windows 8.1 include the return of the Start button on Desktop Mode and the ability to display up to 4 apps at once for better multitasking experience. Microsoft has started rolling out new preview updates for Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. The update brings Windows 11 Builds 26100.7918 and 26200.7918 (KB5077241) to devices running version 24H2 and the upcoming 25H2. Microsoft has announced that the support for Windows 7 will come to an end on January 14, 2020, after its first release in 2009. The Windows 7 will no longer receive security updates or support for PCs running the OS.
