X has launched Chat, a new and more private version of Direct Messages. Chat lets users talk in one-on-one or group conversations with end-to-end encryption, meaning only the sender and receiver can read the messages. Users can edit or delete messages, set them to disappear, get alerts when someone takes a screenshot, and even block screenshots in some cases. When Chat is set up, the app creates special encryption keys protected by a PIN stored only on the user’s device. To use encrypted DMs, users must be on the latest X app and connected with the person they’re messaging. While Android support is coming soon, Chat is now available on iOS and Web. Telegram has launched a dedicated app for Wear OS smartwatches, bringing full chat access, voice messages, and chat management tools directly to users' wrists. The announcement comes days after Telegram introduced a native app for the Apple Watch.
