Sony has just announced the list of Xperia smartphones that will receive the much awaited Android 4.1 Jellybean update. According to the Sony Xperia Product Blog, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is already on the way for the global versions of the following Xperia smartphones: Xperia S, Xperia acro S, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia go and Xperia J. As for the latest models such as the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V - these smartphones will receive the update from mid-February of 2013. Unfortunately, the 2011 Xperia smartphones are stuck with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich due to performance issues. "We were glad to provide the Android 4.0.4 upgrade for our 2011 Xperia portfolio across most markets and the majority of models but, after thorough evaluation, we have concluded they will not be upgraded beyond Ice Cream Sandwich." However, Sony will still continue supporting the 2011 Xperia portfolio with firmware maintenance releases. In an email by Sony Ericsson today, the new Sony Ericsson XPeria X1 phone will be coming out to the public tomorrow in stores but people who made early reservations are supposed to get their own units today.
