Google has quietly raised the price tag of their YouTube Premium subscription. Users have pointed out that prices for YouTube Premium have increased by USD 2. The Premium family plan, however, still has the same price tag of USD22.99/month. When YouTube increased its Premium price last time back in 2018, former subscribers were not charged an additional fee. New features for YouTube Premium Lite include the ability to play videos in the background and download most of them for offline viewing. The plan, relaunched in March 2025, previously focused on offering “most videos” ad-free but lacked the extra perks found in the full Premium tier. YouTube Music has started placing song lyrics behind a paywall, requiring users to subscribe to YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium to view full lyrics. To continue viewing lyrics without limits, users must subscribe to YouTube Music Premium or YouTube Premium.
