Sun Cellular 3G: Speed Up, Price Down

Here’s some good news for people looking into budget 3G internet. Sun Cellular Wireless Broadband has upgraded its network to 3.5G (HSDPA) and dropped its unlimited monthly subscription fees to Sun subscribers.

Sun Cellular has upgraded it’s 3G to speeds up to 2Mbps. There are new subscription plans offering as low as Php799 a month:

Easy Broadband Plan 799
Unlimited Use
up to 2Mbps
Php799 MSF
One time charge of Php2,500
No lock-in period

Plan 799
Unlimited Use
up to 2Mbps
Php799 MSF
No initial fee
24 month lock-in period

Plan 999 2-in-1 Deal
Unlimited Use
up to 2Mbps
Php999 MSF
No initial fee
Free Plan 350 with handset
Lock-in period of 24 to 36 months depending on handset model

The Plan 999 looks like a good deal since you also get a free phone with a Plan 350 subscription. That practically makes your 3G internet fee just Php649 a month.

Existing Sun Postpaid Subscribers can also avail of the Wireless Broadband plan for an additional Php649 on their MSF.

Note: 3.5G speeds on Quezon City, Makati, Mandaluyong, Las Pinas, Paranaque, Bicutan, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Marikina, Valenzuela, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Cainta and Antipolo.

3 mos. on Sun 799 on my Samsung Galaxy 5 with Android OS (also available on plan 999 with the same phone for free with calls – didn’t need the unli txt and calls so opted for 799 – wish I took the 649 instead cause the USB dongle needs the sim I put into my Samsung to work, I thought the USB was an independent modem) HSDPA speeds usually in Cubao, EDGE usually in Caloocan on weekdays and HSDPA on weekends, HSDPA in Novaliches, and I use SM’s free WIFI by registering my email in SM Cubao, Fairview, Novaliches, and North EDSA. Friendly customer service. Fast upload on home videos and pictures, fast download on zipped manga files. Satisfied customer.

“I’m taking this opportunity to vent a bit. I subscribed to Sun Cellular Postpaid Broadband since the store agent gave an assurance that it will give me a fast and reliable internet connection in Muntinlupa. Unang araw na ginamit ko ang product, hnd umaabot ng 100kbps ang signal. Tumawag ako sa customer service, they said magsusubmit sila ng ticket to resolve my issue. They promised na within 24 hours magbibigay cla ng feedback. Naghintay ako pero wala. The next day tumawag ako, on the process pa daw ang concern ko. I asked for a supervisor, the agent transferred me to Miss Alphie, Officer in charge daw sa floor. Sabi nya, ifoforward daw nya ulit ang concern ko and she promised to give me a call back within the day. Guess what? I then asked for a supervisor, sabi ni Miss Alphie engaged pa daw sa call ang supervisor pero tatawagan daw ako within the day ni Jay Dulap, supervisor nila. Same thing happened; I did not receive a call back from the supervisor. The next day, tumawag ako ulit. Nakausap ko ang isa pang supervisor, sa araw din nay un, I received a callback from a manager. Sabi nya, makakareceive daw ako ng call the next day from a technician for troubleshooting. WALA NA NAMAN AKONG NARECEIVE NA CALL. Fifth day na ngayon at wala pa ring resolution sa concern ko. Ngayon may kausap akong CS agent, 1hr and 33 minutes na kame sa call habang sinusulat ko to dahil hnd pa rin daw available ang supervisor nya. They keep on saying na naforward na ang concern ko sa proper department at maghintay lang daw ako ng callback within the day. Sino pang maniniwala????? In my opinion, Sun Cellular has a very poor customer service. What a shame.”

-Typical call center brush off strategy.. hahaha.. ganyan talaga ang mga agents pag alam nila na their company sucks! Pusta Marc hindi talaga supervisor ang kausap mu. parang POC/OIC lang yun. it means that sya ang incharge pag wala si bosing pero agent parin yan.. hehehe.

Been also thinking of switching to sun broadband hoping to get the pocket wifi thingy. but when I read this blog.. Damn ill keep my mydsl na lang. hehehe.. uhm can anyone suggest a more bearable internet connection? I really like to download music, movies and videos (not using torrent though) im getting my movies at pspiso.com and music from limewire (have to be careful though, daming virus) hehehe.

I’ve been using Sun Broadband Wireless plan 799
here in Quezon City. I’m expecting for a fast and reliable internet browsing because my location seems to be in the middle of Sun Cell Towers,
but things are not in the way it supposed to be,
my connection is always lower than the average,
resulting to a major major disappointment.
