just bought this phone as a spare (A05s), it’s pretty good screen and the camera punches waay above it’s weight class. I never thought an 8k phone would capture shots as clean as they can on that phone for that price, but. of course there are some drawbacks. in terms of optimization, the A05s runs the snapdragon 680 which should be plenty speedy enough, but due to samsungs poor optimization, things run a little slower than they do on smartphones with similar chipsets, on the top of my head I can think of the huawei nova 11i though pricier yes, but the chipset is the same minus double the ram, the main point though is overall fluidity in navigation of the UI and photo taking experience, samsung or smasnug as I affectionately call them handles systems differently in terms of how they capture shots, which is when you tap on the shoot button, it pauses a bit as it attempts to take a picture and process at the same time, while most companies do tend to do it this way but in smaller chunks samsung leans on this which is okay with high end chipsets but would KILL lower end ones as a result it tends to stutter a bit when taking pictures and if you move it a bit it cant capture and process it that fast you’ll find it be a bit blurry so you need steady hands, but if you do take it steady and shoot with patience, it beats even older flagships in terms of picture clarity and overall sharpness it’s great. huawei on the otherhand always had a different approach in taking picture which benifits lowend and highend chips alike, which is take a picture and either A. process the image a bit clean it up (base) or B. process the image + cleanup + (AI image color ranging adjustment) THEN when you open up the image if you choose to preview it, it then would complete the sharpening and adjustment otherwise it does it in the background. as for smoothness, this is where the optimization comes in, visually the a05s isnt that bad, it can hit 90hz from time to time at least thats what my eyes tell me but it cant stick to it as buttery smooth as the huawei nova 11i does (despite the price gap, it’s the same chipset folks), of course as specced the difference in price between the huawei and samsung for a similarly specced one is now down to 2k? the 11i can be had for around 10-11k for the 128gb version (no expandable memory) this is a testiment to the optimization that huawei puts into the OS UI experience and general experience. of course youd have to deal with the no play store thing, but as a spare phone, I find myself using the huawei phone more than my main phone a lot of times, just because it’s a lot more smoother than my daily driver and more responsive, my current daily driver is the slim sony xperia 10 iv. both sony and huawei have great standby ability but huawei blows it out of the water, I can use it for 3-4 days on a single charge with regular minor usage and music streaming.
