DJI’s Mini 3 Pro is on the horizon with it being rumored to have a few significant upgrades from its predecessor. The DJI Mini 3 Pro would be the next iteration of mini-drones by DJI with the DJI Mini 2 released last November 2020. The drone is set to be a great starter drone with its small design and new features such as obstacle avoidance.
Jasper Ellens, a self-described DJI Investigator took to Twitter to post leaked pictures and videos on the DJI Mini 3 Pro. His tweets indicate that the drone will be equipped with multiple additional sensors such as large front and ground sensors and the addition of backward sensors to help avoid obstacles and prevent ground collisions. This would certainly be an upgrade from the DJI Mini 2 which only has ground detection sensors and lacks obstacle avoidance.
The rumored camera of the leak indicates a lens with a max aperture of f/1.7 that would help produce brighter images and improved low-light performance than the current DJI Mini 2 with a f/2.8 lens. It was also noticed that an improved 3-axis gimbal on the drone’s side would allow users to shoot vertical videos and keep footage smooth.
Other details of the rumored DJI Mini 3 Pro include a larger battery than the DJI Mini 2 at 2,453 mAh which is estimated to give 35 minutes of flight time. As well, it is said that the DJI Mini 3 Pro will only weigh 249g.
