Walkman nwzx2 for $1.2K?
Astell and Kern AK240 for $2.5K

No thanks.

I’ll just settle for Neil Young’s PonoPlayer which costs ‘only’ $400.

Sure the Walkman and AK have better features but dollar for dollar, the PonoPlayer is the better choice.

PonoPlayer needs to improve on its battery life though.

don’t be surprised that a serious music player is priced 50K when “mere” headphones cost just as much.

wtf!
P51K+ for a music player?!
no way I’d rather buy a flagship smartphone

dude, this walkman is no longer the cassette walkman or cd walkman of the past where it is designed with everyone in mind.

this is made for people who make their living off of music. (and those people who buy these things because they can.)

still, $1.2k is still $1.2k.

even for hardcore audiophiles, $1.2K is a lot of money.

however if you are a pro or from the music industry this looks like a must have gadget even if it hurts the pocket a bit much.

Most hardcore audiophiles have lots of money to spend. Just visit Head-fi forums and you’ll see.

these devices are not meant to play MP3s

Yeah you don’t play your 128kpbs mp3’s with these. You play high resolution audio files like DSD, FLAC 192Khz/24bit files or DVD-A rips. You’ll probably pair these with high end earphones like Shure SE846 and not your crappy Beats or Bose.

used to have an NWZ E443, 8GB internal, 8hrs playback, but it finally died

so I look out for a replacement
I saw a 4GB version, but it cost P4K+
then I saw the CM Flare 3, and (bell rings)
why not?
for the same price I can have an MP3 Player, a phone, etc.
just look for the best music player and you’re good to go
batter life? well in flight mode I think it can go a full days worth.
