Verbatim announces Write-Once External SSD

Verbatim is launching an SSD that doesn’t allow data deletion or overwriting. The Verbatim SWOVA128G also known as the long-life SSD offers 128GB of portable undeletable storage.

The storage uses MLC NAND memory that has passed “strict selection standards” according to the company and can survive temperatures of -35 degrees to 55 degrees Celsius.

The device uses Verbatim’s dedicated software to transfer new files into the drive. For other devices the hard drive becomes read-only. The drive will keep on accepting new files as long as there is enough space, but deletions and renaming aren’t allowed anymore.

The device comes with a 10-year guarantee and is only compatible with Windows 10 and 11, and Verbatim says that the data stored inside the device isn’t covered by the guarantee.
