Xiaomi Mi Box S now official

Xiaomi has officially launched in the US their new Android TV box that comes with Google Assistant and built-in Chromecasts – the Mi Box S.

The Mi Box S is powered by Android 8.1 Oreo and capable of streaming 4K Ultra HD content in HDR. It supports Dolby + DTS audio, thousands of media apps including YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify, and works with IoT devices via voice control with the help of the Google Assistant.

As for other features, it sports a Cortex-A53 quad-core processor, Mali-450 GPU, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 8GB eMMC storage, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4GHz/5GHz, Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI 2.0m and USB 2.0.

The Xiaomi Mi Box S is available in the US for $59.99.

    What’s the difference with their old/current Mi Box? I hear their current one can be upgraded to Android 8.1 as well, so wouldn’t it make little difference in this sense? Specs seem the same on spec sheet.
