0:00Infinix has built a reputation for
0:01making affordable gaming phones on the
0:04market. Their phones not only look cool,
0:06but also perform quite well, at least
0:08for the price point. One great example
0:10of this is the Infinix GT 30 Pro
0:12released last year. This year, Infinix
0:14has finally released their successor to
0:17the GT 30 Pro. Interestingly though,
0:19this isn’t called the GT 40 Pro. It
0:21might have something to do with the
0:22certain Ford car, but I digress.
0:25Instead, meet the new model in the GT
0:27line, the Infinix GT 50 Pro. It comes
0:31with all of the features we’d expect
0:33from an Infinix GT line smartphone. But
0:35how does it fare compared to the new
0:38budget gaming phones that have entered
0:39the market? Let’s find out this review.
0:43>> [music]
0:48>> First up, let’s talk about how the
0:50Infinix GT 50 Pro looks. Not
0:52surprisingly, it features the same
0:54gaming aesthetics we’ve come to know
0:56from the Infinix brand. Our review unit
0:59is in the dark red color scheme, which
1:01we personally like. There’s also an
1:03interesting design motif at the bottom,
1:05which gives it that kind of mecha-like
1:08design element for the back panel. Looks
1:10interesting. What we really found
1:11interesting though is how Infinix
1:13blended two different materials used for
1:15the back panel. The top half uses a
1:17matte-like finish, which feels a bit
1:19more rough to the touch. Meanwhile, the
1:21area with the mech design adopts a gloss
1:24finish. Although, while not as obvious,
1:26this isn’t a glass back panel. Instead,
1:28the entire thing appears to be made out
1:30of plastic. Of course, it still features
1:32the LED lighting at the back, or
1:33mechanical light waves as Infinix calls
1:36it. Compared to the backlighting of the
1:37GT 30 Pro, the one on the GT 50 Pro is
1:40more noticeable with larger LED strips.
1:43Best of all, the colors can now be
1:44changed instead of just different
1:46lighting designs. The GT 50 Pro also
1:48retains the two GT triggers on the right
1:50side from its predecessor. And they’re
1:52slightly longer, too. Like before, it’s
1:54fully mappable to quickly access other
1:56features of the phone as opposed to just
1:58using it to play games, which we’ll talk
2:00more about in a bit. The volume rocker
2:02and power button are still located on
2:03the right side and are easily accessible
2:05with one hand. At the bottom, there’s a
2:07USB-C, one of two loudspeakers, and a
2:09dual SIM card slot. Meanwhile, at the
2:11top, there’s the secondary loudspeaker,
2:13an IR blaster, and the Dolby Atmos
2:16branding. Some might find the design of
2:17the Infinix GT 50 Pro a bit over the
2:19top, but we think it helps the
2:21smartphone create a unique identity as
2:23opposed to most smartphones on the
2:24market nowadays. But what do you guys
2:27think though? For reference, our review
2:29unit is the cooling edition, which comes
2:31with a separate mag charge cooler and a
2:33mag charge case. Moving over to its
2:36display, the Infinix GT 50 Pro features
2:38a 6.78-in screen featuring a 1.5K AMOLED
2:42panel, 144 Hz refresh rate, and even
2:44HDR10+ support. It’s a beautiful display
2:47with even borders all around. It’s great
2:50for watching videos and playing games,
2:51and the UI animations are quite smooth,
2:54too. It’s gamers who utilize the phone
2:56the most thanks to the 144 Hz refresh
2:58rate, but more on that later. Still,
3:00when you’re not playing games, users
3:01won’t be disappointed passing time
3:03watching their favorite series or shows
3:05on the GT 50 Pro. The display is quite
3:08bright, too, with an option to turn on
3:09high brightness mode, making it very
3:11usable outdoors. But what we really like
3:13is how vivid the colors are out of the
3:15box. It’s set to original color by
3:17default, but if users want something a
3:19bit more vivid, there’s the bright color
3:21option. Although, it’s a bit too vivid
3:23for me. Unfortunately though, even with
3:25the high brightness, there’s still a lot
3:26of glare on this phone when you’re using
3:28it outdoors, so do keep that in mind. As
3:30for the stereo speakers, they’re nice
3:31considering this isn’t a high-end
3:33smartphone, especially with Dolby audio
3:35turned on. The mids and trebles are
3:37clear, but depending on the song, it can
3:38sometimes sound a bit muddy. And as
3:40expected, there’s a clear lack of bass.
3:42The important thing is it’s loud. Even
3:45with the volume maxed out, there’s only
3:46a marginal decrease sound quality. And
3:48for reference, it can easily fill up the
3:50living room here at the UGeek HQ when
3:52you max it out. For biometrics, there’s
3:53an option between an under-display
3:55fingerprint sensor and face unlock.
3:57Since this is a gaming phone, the
3:58cameras aren’t really the best aspects
4:00of the Infinix GT 50 Pro. At the rear,
4:03there’s only a 50-megapixel main shooter
4:04paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide
4:06camera. For the front, there’s a
4:0813-megapixel camera for selfies. To be
4:11honest, we didn’t really have high
4:12expectations for the cameras [music] of
4:13this phone, but we were decently
4:15satisfied with the output. The images
4:17came out nice, especially in well-lit
4:19environments. They’re sharp, and there’s
4:21decent contrast, too. The colors aren’t
4:23too saturated, either, which gives the
4:25image a more natural look and feel.
4:27However, when it’s really bright out,
4:28the camera does have a hard time
4:30balancing the highlights and shadows.
4:32With that, some photos turned out having
4:34too dark of a shadow. So, yeah. As
4:36expected, the ultra-wide does not have
4:38the same performance as compared to
4:39using the main camera. There’s a
4:41noticeable difference in quality, but
4:43some might not find it as obvious,
4:44especially when you’re shooting in
4:45well-lit places. When using the zoom, it
4:47is decent up until 5x zoom, which is a
4:49nice feature considering this doesn’t
4:51have a telephoto lens. In low light, the
4:53image quality quickly drops, but it’s
4:55still very much usable for those who
4:56just want to capture memories. What’s
4:58more surprising though is the video
5:00capability of the Infinix GT 50 Pro. It
5:03can record up to 4K at 60 FPS, and best
5:05of all, video stabilization works even
5:07at 4K. With that, we were able to
5:10capture some very steady footage while
5:12walking around the UGeek HQ. The video
5:14quality is very much the same as the
5:15photo. It has the same issue of having a
5:17hard time balancing highlights and
5:18shadows. Users can adjust it manually,
5:20but it reverts back to the original
5:22settings once in a while, leaving users
5:24with either overblown highlights or very
5:26dark shadows. Still, for a gaming phone,
5:29the cameras are no doubt decent. Now,
5:31let’s get on to the aspect of the phone
5:32we’ve all been waiting for, the
5:34performance of the Infinix GT 50 Pro. It
5:37packs a Dimensity 8400 Ultimate chipset,
5:40and our review unit comes with 12 GB of
5:42RAM and 512 GB of storage. There’s no
5:44dedicated microSD card slot available,
5:46but 512 GB is more than enough to handle
5:49a bunch of games and apps, at least in
5:51our opinion. Considering the chipset it
5:53packs, we’re not surprised this phone
5:55could run most games we could think of.
5:57On Mobile Legends, it was able to play
5:58the game on max graphics without any
6:00issues. When you’re playing more
6:02graphic-intensive games like Genshin
6:03Impact, we were able to play the game on
6:06the highest graphic settings and at 60
6:08FPS, no problem. Together with the GT
6:10triggers and the 144 Hz refresh rate
6:12display, we really enjoyed playing our
6:14favorite games on this phone. Although
6:16not all games could utilize the
6:18triggers, it’s nice to know we could use
6:19it whenever we want. Alternatively, you
6:22can map them to your liking, too, for
6:24the games that may not be able to use it
6:26natively. But the best thing about the
6:28performance is that we didn’t have any
6:30heating issues with the phone. It
6:31features liquid cool technology, which
6:34can be turned on or off in the settings.
6:36Of course, we left it turned on to get
6:37consistent gaming temps. And given how
6:40well it handled the games, we weren’t
6:41surprised it didn’t have any hot issues
6:43handling our day-to-day tasks. And at
6:45the same time, if you need more cooling
6:46power, you always have the mag charge
6:48cooler, well, assuming you have the
6:50cooler edition. As for the benchmarks,
6:52it performed very well with all our
6:54tests. And as you can see on screen,
6:56these are very impressive numbers.
6:59The Infinix GT 50 Pro runs on XOS 16,
7:02which is based on Android 16. It’s a
7:05smooth OS, and it’s quite easy to use,
7:07too. Not to mention, it comes with the
7:09mecha theme to match the gamer
7:10aesthetics of this phone. Although, if
7:12you’re not fond of the gaming
7:13aesthetics, users can also change the
7:16theme to the regular XOS for a cleaner
7:18look and feel. Of course, it comes with
7:19the usual suite of AI features like
7:21Google Circle to Search and Gemini.
7:23There’s also Infinix AI functions like
7:25AI writing and AI subtitles to make
7:27everyday work and play a lot easier.
7:29Here, users can also play with the
7:31settings for the GT triggers when not in
7:33use for games. Users can set it up to
7:36open X Arena, use it as a shutter button
7:38for camera, and a lot more. The apps
7:40that can be launched are a bit limited,
7:42but at least it’s there. As for X Arena,
7:44it’s essentially like a game launcher,
7:46which holds all of the games installed.
7:48Users can also change the phone
7:50parameters per game to improve
7:52performance. Like, say Genshin needs a
7:54bit more performance, then set it to
7:55performance mode, and it’ll remember
7:57that. Powering the Infinix GT 50 Pro is
7:59a 6500 mA battery pack, which seems to
8:02be a common number in this segment of
8:04this phone. Since we got our hands on
8:06the phone, we noticed that the battery
8:07does drain relatively fast, even when we
8:09aren’t playing games. The benchmark
8:11score showed a similar result, too, with
8:1311 hours and 44 minutes on PCMark’s
8:16battery test. Assuming users leave the
8:18mechanical light waves turned on, expect
8:20the battery to drain even faster.
8:22Thankfully, there is a 45 W wired
8:24charger, which isn’t that fast, but it
8:26supports bypass charging to help
8:27preserve the long-term life of the
8:29battery. Not to mention, the GT mag
8:31charge cooler also offers 15 W wireless
8:33bypass charging to keep the phone even
8:36cooler while juicing up and while in
8:38use. Overall, we’re very satisfied with
8:41what the Infinix GT 50 Pro offers in
8:43terms of performance and overall user
8:46experience. It’s great for gamers who
8:48don’t want to splurge on a more
8:50expensive gaming phone, and at the same
8:51time, it’s also perfect as an everyday
8:54phone considering the cameras got an
8:55upgrade from before, but the battery is
8:57still lacking, which is to be expected
9:00since this is a gaming phone, after all.
9:01There is bypass charging, also, using
9:04the mag charge cooler, so there’s that.
9:06Now, as for the price, at the time we
9:08recorded this video, Infinix has not yet
9:10released the price of the GT 50 Pro yet.
9:12However, we hope Infinix didn’t increase
9:14the price that much compared to the GT
9:1630 Pro. Assuming that’s the case, this
9:18would still make it one of the best and
9:20affordable gaming phones on the market
9:22right now, at least in our opinion. But
9:25so far, what do you guys think of the
9:26Infinix GT 50 Pro? Is this still the
9:29go-to mid-range gaming phone you’ll
9:31choose, or would you choose something
9:33else? Whatever the case, share your
9:34thoughts in the comments below. If you
