Yahoo launches Pipes, then gets crushed by Digg
Yahoo! Pipes has been officially launched a few hours ago and Diggers have brought it down. Now, you know how huge Digg traffic if it can clog a Yahoo service. The site now returns “Our Pipes are clogged! We’ve called the plumbers!”
But what are Pipes, btw? Pipes are a hosted service that lets you remix feeds and create new data mashups in a visual programming environment. The name of the service pays tribute to Unix pipes, which lets programmers do astonishingly clever things by making it easy to chain simple utilities together on the command line.
Can’t wait to try this out but since the service is still down (no thanks to Digg), we’ll just have to wait a little while longer.
