Smart Wifi issue reaches congress.

One of my readers left a comment in the Smart Wifi thread about the issues plaguing the subscribers have reached the Lower House thru COMPOSTELA Valley Rep. Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora:

Worry no more guys, Rep. Way Kurat is on your side, he also is a Smart Wifi subscriber that has been having headaches with his internet connection since it was installed and it’s frequent basestation technical activities. his employee called the hotline to inquire how to terminate their subscription and he was shocked to be informed that they are required to pay the pretermination fee even that his internet connection only gave him headaches. so instead of arguing with a CSR/TSR, he made a bill and raised it to the congress to make an investigation about this matter since he was also informed that the number of complaints the NTC is receiving is very alarming..

ePLDT Ventus (the call center company who handles the account) management had an emergency meeting regarding this issue.

I have no way of verifying this since I could not get a copy of the paper anywhere near. I’m sure the good congressman would make good use of all that reports in newspapers (including blogs and forums) about the dismal service a huge number of subscribers are getting.

    “HAYUP KAYO SMART, BALIK NYO PERA NAMIN – 988 PESOS PARA 0.2KBPS? NILOLOKO NYO BA KAMI?!”

    in there front page, then that would be cool,,, got the point?

    the best chance lang natin ay sa forums ng mga TV companies… ABS-CBN, GMA, etc.. kung mayroon silang forums… and we should pray na mayroong makabasang staff ng company nila na kind enough to help us…

    so sa Forums ng TV co…. i don’t know kung allowed sa rules nila yung mga posts na kagay dito. try ko na magvisit sa forums ng ABS, right there

  8. any updates on this bill? i want smart to allow me to terminate my account (or my mother’s account, for that matter) without having to pay the termination fee. i wasn’t able to take note all of the downtimes (at that time, i thought i was just the only one experiencing this) and i’m having a hard time filing a termination request.

  9. hello…. smart wi fi user ako before dial up lang ang gamit mabagal sya pero no interuption kahit abutin ng 10 hrs yung download ok lang pero itong smart wi-fi /bro less 100 kb lang i download minsan ayaw pa swerte mo kong maganda ang connection sa mo kasi may time na maganda ang connection….. kaya ng tinatanong ko kung may trial period nung ikinabit nila pero wla naman…. ang pangit ng offer ng smart wi-fi hindi man lang ako makapakinig ng radio sa internet…..

    naisip ko lang ha…..kung manghingi kaya ako ng tulong sa imbestigador or sa xxx patulan kaya nila yung mga issue’s na maykinalaman ang malalaking company? kaso may isa pang problem dahil every smart wi-fi/bro user ay within a 1 year contract hindi ko lang alam kung nasa merong batas saying na pwedeng materminate yung contract ng wla na tayong pananagutan…..sana meron talaga try kong mag-email sa imbestigador kung mapapansin nila….pero masmaganda kung magpersonal na magpupnta duon….ang kaylangan lang naman kasi ay mapawalang bisa yung contract na kaylangan nating magbayad kahit terminated na yung account natin……

  10. meron ba sa inyo malapit sa antenna ng smart? kc i’m planning to get a wifi installed. few blocks lang kc antenna d2 so im wondedring if there would be difference if you’r near the antenna para mas malakas ang sagap! baka kc malayo ang iba kaya mabagal ang connection.

  13. Ok, to people who dont really know that well and just comment w/o thinking.

    u hav better understood b4 u aplied to smartbro that it is a WAN type of connection. Wide Area Network. So it doesnt really support OPEN Ports for you torrent downloads! NO torrents! It will only take u foever to d/l one since the basestation is the one incharge for opening ports. This is to give u security.

    U shud have gone 4 a DSL connection. There u could torrent since u are capable of opening ur own port.

    Next, if u have slow d/l on some files. Dont totaly blame it on ur ISP. The server ur d/lding from is also one cause. Trafik…blablabla. Or slow server.

    This also is true in P2p.

    Now b4 u comment on anything else..think.

    Im a smartbro sub and if u look at it, its fine. Some files dont do fast. Some do… Try searching for an OPM song that has lots of sources in ur p2p software…d/l it. Itl take just 2mins or less.

    B4 u comment, again….think!

    I just have my connection last saturday and was very disappointed with the service. Kakagulat kc ang connection speed ko maximum is 58Kilobits/second as against the advertised 384KBPS

    I can see smart is really investing in false advertising. Grabe.. Tapos ang daming IDIOT sa CSR’s na walang alam sabihin kundi may technical activity sa base station and just monitor your connection. TApos di daw sila pwede mag-papunta ng tao basta… Meron daw tatawag pero 1 week na wala pa rin.

    Nasaulo ko na nga yung sinasabi nila kc tumatawag ako araw araw to complain. Tapos di pa rin nagpapadala ng tao dito sa amin.

    So now, Im already considering terminating my subscription ASAP.

    Gumagawa na rin ako ng e-mail to formally bring up this issue to DTI. Sana naman may magawa sila…

    Well sa lahat po ng may problem pa dito sa smart service na ito, sana po mag-file na rin po kayo ng compalint sa DTI. Tama na ang pag-mumukmok. Course all your compalints to the proper authorities.

    Since my initial connection tuwing umaga wala ako connection kung meron man paputol-putol. magbabayad tayo ng 988 or 1000 rounding off tapos ganito walang kuwenta ang binabayad natin. Di natin nasusulit. sa 22o lang ilang beses na pumunta mga technical crew nila para ayosin 2 pero ano sagot nila “Sir di namin matrace kung ano ang problem ng connection nyo. maybe sa distance at mga obstructions.” THE QUESTION IS: HOW COME NA MAY TIME NA MABILIS ANG INTERNET KO!!!! Kung ganun ang case simple logic db??? Tanga naman nya or talagang hindi nya field ang ganung work? Ang sabihin nila nandadaya sila. May time na nagreclamo ako one night 2ngkol sa slow connection ko kinunfirm ng nakausap ko na 22o nga un at I told them to check my IP parameters.. The guy told me to monitor my speed for the next hour. Abay akalain mong bigla bumilis!!! Ibig sbhn d nila pinag-iibayo ang trabaho nila….. Walang ya mag-iisang taon na ako sa December tapos ganito parin…..
    Matatawa nalang ako sa mga nakakausap ko na contractors at sa CC ng SMART kc akala nila mangmang ako sa mga ganitong bagay. nyahahahahah… hnd lang nila alam….

  19. Sa 220 lang kababasa ko lang nung kay Xeno noh… Wi-Fi or Wireless Fidelity is a WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) type of network. Ang mga factors affecting sa connection natin ay e2 upon studying kung medyo mabagal ang download rate mo is maybe marami ito sabay-sabay, malayo sang host server kung saan ka nagdodownload puwede ring sa present performance ng Bandwidth mo. Kung slow connection naman is maybe may kalayuan ang basestation sa bahay nyo, ung geological map ng location nyo which I mean is ung mga puno, bahay na matataas, etc… or puwede rin minsan na tamad lang talaga at di nila gnagawa ang work nila sa basestation or minomonitor ito ng mabuti.. Ang problema kc minsan sa SMART is nagpromise sila ng such a bandwidth pero d naman maganda ung outcome…. pero may saying ako na THE PRICE REFLECTS THE QUALITY. pero d sana ganun db? mali naman ata un 1000 is to hard to earn this days…. Sa mga subscribers na gaya ko ang gawin nyo is bombard lang sila ng reklamo humanap pa tayo ng mga ibang paraan or mga sources na pwedeng lapitan at pagdulugan ng reklamo…. Like sa NTC or sa mismong contractor nila ang Meridian Internet Telecomms Company….

  20. urrggghhh… akala ko ako lang ang may problema with azureus and NAT problems….marami din pala… if a lot of people seem to have the same complaint as mine, bakit parang di alam ng mga CSR kung ano yung “torrent” at “azureus”…

  22. xeno, if you say so torrents cannot be executed in smartbro why i am downloading as much as 2GB of data? you better think twice before you react.

    to those smart bro users who do not know the wireless technology you better subscribe into a standard DSL or (ADSL).

    wireless connections is sensitive. especially if its attenuation level is high.

  23. xeno… ikaw ang mag isip bago mag post ng comment mas tanga ka pa kahit kanino dito.. i am a technical support for DSL.. im also handling wireless set up for cafe and business wireless solution. Usual set up for ISP here and abroad, open lahat ng ports nila sa CO (centreal office) or Base station for smart. Ports are being opened from the CP (cus premie) like in smart… kung marunong kang mag access ng canopy makikita mo ung firewall config dun..

    regarding sa torrent… i always use smartbro to download a lot of torrent files, kaya panu mo sasabihin na di PWEDE NAG TORRENT.. THIS EXPLAINS KUNG GAANO KA KATANGA AT DI NAG IISIP.

    IF UR SPEED is slow or intermittent, there’s no one to blame but UR ISP because their the one who provides internet connection.. another thing meridian tech scope is to assure that there is a good signal from the canopy to base station
    SMART SCOPE IS TO CORRECTLY BUILD UR CXN TO THE ROUTERS.. kung mabagal it means na sobra ung people na nakabuild dun sa router.. ex..
    base station BW===10mbps
    max capacity===39 cxn (enough to provide cus with 256 cxn)
    minsan mas madami ung naka build sa router kaya bumabagal pag sabay sabay ang gamit.. SMART ANG DAPAT SISIHIN KASE HAKOT CLA NG HAKOT PERO DI NAMAN NILA KAYA MASUSTAIN UNG CXN>>>PERA LANG ANG HABOL.

    XENO — > do you think you wud pay 999 for 45-60k cxn… if ur getting this cxn speed all the time, do you think this is just caused by traffic or overbuilt. IKAW ANG NAG ISIP AT WAG KANG TATANGA TANGA.. i myself kno to configure the canopy and correctly connect it to the base station w/o the help of their tech.. eh ikaw ano ka ba???

  24. bwisit tlaga yang smart Wifi na yan,mas malimit png wlang connection…ang lapit lapit lang namin sa tower nila…nakailang palit na ng tubo..:(ganun parin…mga kapit bahay namin ganyan dn ang problema…mas malimit wlang connection kisa meron tapos pag meron naman…super bagal npaka suwerte n pg mabilis ang connection..:(matapos lng contract k s inyo…llipat me ng globe wifi mabuti n lng mron na sila…wlang kwenta smart ka bwisittttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!

    A few days ago. I got utorrent running on my pc using smart 3g/smart bro (whatever you call it…it’s still 3g technology since they both use the 3g signal). Then I reformatted my pc! now it can’t torrent again! I don’t know what I did. I don’t know how I did it or what program leached into my system but now that’s it’s all nice and sassy…it can’t download torrents again! The point?…torrent is possible on 3g…alas how to make it work.
