Meta launches Facebook Verified, a new free badge designed to show that a Facebook account belongs to a real person.
To get the badge, eligible users need to finish this selfie-based verification process. They just record a short selfie video and Meta compares it with the profile photos they already have to make sure it’s really them. The whole thing takes only a few minutes, maybe less.
The badge will show up first on Facebook Marketplace, Dating, Groups, and on user profiles. Meta also says it will later be added to Feed posts, down the road.
Facebook Verified is available to eligible users aged 18 and above who follow the platform’s Community Standards. The feature is rolling out in select markets first before expanding to more countries worldwide.
