VLC tops our Media Player Survey

More than a third of the respondents in the last poll agreed that VLC is the most preferred media player. Windows Media Player came in at a close second.

What’s actually more interesting is that the other third of those who sent in their feedback had other media players in mind. That’s on top of the 8 choices I put up.

There were media players recommended that I’ve only heard of the first time — GOM player and KM player. Interestingly enough, there were quite a number of people who are still loyal to Media Player Classic.

by media player classic we dont mean the old Microsoft Windows Media Player btw, MPC is a open source project that plays almost any video file and uses less resources than VLC.

Media Player Classic is not the old version of Microsoft’s WMP, Sir Abe. :) It’s a different software.

I, myself use it, because it’s lightweight and only provides what it should unlike other bloatwares.

I used to love VLC too…but GOM seems to be a more capable all around video player.

Like the others, I was voting for the open source MPC and not the old WMP from MS. :)

Actually, Media Player Classic was born because people prefer the “old” Windows Media Player. Yes, MPC is that old.

    ^^

same here, i was talking about the “new” open-source MPC when i replied to the survey, not the actual “old” MPC :)

i voted for ‘Other’. i used to use RealPlayer10(with 3gp upgrade) and/or quicktime, + powerdvd. but now, i am using KLite Codec with Media player classic as front end. i think all-in-one package na. light, regularly updated, and nost of all, opensource(free)

VLC rocks. One of the best media player out there. The osx version is far better than the built in mac media player.

Media Player Classic would have easily beat them if it’s only in the poll. It’s got excellent screenshot maker too!
