HTC 7 Mozart Price, Plans on Smart Exclusive

Listen to article

The upcoming HTC 7 Mozart will be exclusive to Smart Comm. and we’ve got some updates on the pricing plans for the postpaid account.

New Postpaid Subscribers:
Plan 1500 – Php18,000
Plan 2000 – Php13,000
Plan 3000 – Php2,500
Plan 4000 – Free

Retention Plan

Plan 1500 – Php17,500
Plan 2000 – Php12,500
Plan 3000 – Php2,000
Plan 4000 – Free

These plans normally come with a 24-month contract.

Looks like there’s no prepaid kit plan if you want to get it that way. From the looks of the postpaid plans, it looks like the HTC Mozart is more expensive than a 16GB iPhone 4 (Plan 1799 + Php10.5k gets you an iPhone 4 while Plan 2000 + Php12.5k gets you an HTC Mozart).

Smart is doing roadshow today to demo and get pre-orders for the HTC Mozart. See earlier story here.

Bad pricing! All new phones and plans in ph are badly priced! But at least i was able to buy my misus a 32g ip4, PREPAID! Ip4 is more useful with wifi, plus compared to where i am, im only paying 65$aud for a 32g ip4 and what is included in the plan is totally a bang for the buck! I once had an htc pda, it wasnt bad, the thing is, is it gonna be worth the try? If you want good apps for the ip4, anyone can get them for as low as 99c to 150$-based on what ive seen. Ip4 is my 1st apple phone, i was always stuck between nokia commun. and htc pda’s but so far the ip4 hasnt failed me yet. I hope this phone offers a good competition or if not now, in a years time. Btw yuga, i found this great product, im not sure if it is available in ph yet, im not sure if what im gonna type next is appropriate but you should take a look at otterbox products.

it might be a good research/blog topic on why the phils have problems in getting approval and/or the use of phil credit card accounts for use in apps or online stores.

@mr. bogus

so based nga sa premise ng iyong argument, flop sana ang iphone 4, pero madami ngang apps kaya hindi sya flop. isn’t that the whole point? kaya ka bibili ng isang product is because of the support?

I think this phone is great until SMART took this exclusively. i mean, for the postpaid market in the PHL, SMART comes in poor third. way behind SUN and Globe.

this is a new platform, so i cant really comment on it. but it will sure make the marketplace exciting to have several options. it will be nice to observe how the market will react after Q4’10 and Q1’2011.

If you’ve ever used a Zune, then Windows Phone 7 is for you. Simplicity is beauty. The Win7 format is very Zunish, and that is actually beautiful. They deviated from the old Windows Phone format, and I actually love this one. Goes will with an XBOX too. :)

Am a Smart subscriber. I am a bit confused about the plans this phone is offered with. The old scheme used to Plan 500/800/1200/1800/2500/5000.
Are the plans this phone is offered with data plans? I cannot seem to find details on the plans at the Smart Communications website.

im not saying iphone 4 is the best phone, im just saying to price this phone equal to or more expensive than the iphone is pure bull! I checked this phone for 5 mins and it didnt impress. Id rather have the cherry superion. Mas dami pang apps. Mr bogus, halatang wala ka talagang alam sa mga mamahalin phones. Hintayin mo nalng pag low end phones na ang iboblog saka ka mag comment.

the thing with iOS is, they are the game changer. they made everybody follow them. copy them. since iOS was introduced, this things happened the mobile phone space:

-windows rebooted their mobile os
-symbian, the number 1 os became irrelevant
-palm used windows mobile os then made redesigns and rebooted their os and changed their hardware
-palm was bought by HP a year after
-nokia struggles and decided to create meego with intel. almost nobody likes nokia anymore. not even you people talk about symbian anymore
-android was introduced
-rim suddenly doubled(even tripled) their marketing strategy
-ipad was introduced and now another trend follows

this is not in successive order.

android, on the other hand, is catching up and is doing very well. the biggest gripe i have with android is fragmentation. apps that work well with samsung galaxy s may not work well with htc desire.

Iphone and WinP7 shares the same (almost) limitations, as compared to other platforms..

pero syempre, ahead na ang IOS kc marami na available apps..

If I were given the option, I’ll always go for an android.. with that price, I can buy one with superior quality, specs, etc.

but I don’t blame people if they choose Iphone with stature stuffs in mind.. that’s what make them satisfied.. sila naman ang nagbabayad eh, pera nila yon, so wag na magreact ung iba..

Just like xbox live you won’t be able to buy using ph issued cc. I just hope with the introduction of WP7 ms ph should encourage Redmond to open up their marketplace here.

so the mozart is officially coming to smart. pero paano yung sa windows marketplace? YOU CANNOT BUY PAID APPS WITH A LOCAL CREDIT CARD ( I have a metrobank credit card and HTC 7 Trophy). believe me, i tried more than 20x and it always says that the card cannot be authorized. I also tried a BDO debit card with the same results. And MS said that these new OS’s are only as good as their app stores.

LOL fanboi. It’s the same thing with DSLRs today. The stature is all that matters. Them and their blurry pics.

It’s that price point that makes WP7’s future here on the Philippines grim. Or maybe we have Windows fanbois also that will buy it for stature. LOL

ignore those idiots calling you fanbois because you are gunning for a better offer – idiots waiting for every frackin opportunity to use the word “fanboi” so to speak.

just by the mere mention of any apple product makes you a fanboi to these cheapos who are evident haven’t laid hands on iphones or macbooks. and when i say laid hands i meant purchased a single apple product.

one question to all of your morons calling people opting for iphones names. have you ever purchased an apple product in your entire life?! don’t give me the i-don’t-buy-job’s-crap or any crap for that matter because you all sounded crappy anyway. i mean seriously!

FYI: i use Android Eclair and will upgrade soon to Froyo on a Motorola Milestone so shut the f**k up!

I think Smart is not doing this whole exclusive phone thing “Smart”-ly. Pardon the pun.

iPhone 4’s and Galaxy S’s have been available as prepaid units locked to Globe and we all love the contract-less stuff.

While Smart started with the Nokia N8 but the promotion was a sham. At least from what I can understand, you can sign up for a locked Smart unit, pay full price, and need to subscribe to an unlimited data plan? (There was no option for non-unlimited.)

So if I have to pay full price, get a locked phone, and need to sign up for a painful contract, what stops me from just getting an unlocked, contract free phone from Nokia at the same price? Actually, why is the N8 even available unlocked? You need to make it carrier exclusive to make your crappy contracts work!

Now we look into this whole Windows Phone 7 thing and its bad all over again. At least this time it looks like the phone is exclusive to Smart. (Of course, barring unlocked imports and the prolific unlocking business – but Smart’s advantage here is people who want their warranties.)

But without prepaid units it might as well just be a joke. And the phone is competing with iPhone prices? Who’s even going to bother?

Smart fails to capture the top end market yet again. I seriously don’t think they actually have people in their staff who use top end smartphones at this rate.

I’m not a fan of IPhone, nor IOS for that matter.

I have been using Windows Mobile devices since 2002. I have tried other platforms but I kept coming back to WinMo. Fan of WinMo? That, I’m guilty of. I have my reasons.

But, WP7 is totally different from what I have been accustomed to. So, comparing the Mozart (WP7) and Iphone 4 (IOS4), especially when you consider the price, I’d go for IP4. As what others said, a bigger bang for your buck.

at least IOS4 is on its fourth iteration. whereas, WP7 is new and definitely will have some bugs, not to mention its several limitation as an OS.

I’m just reacting to the second-from-the-last paragraph of this blog post.

Thanks @sven and @Adam. :)

leave him alone his point is he’d rather get the ip4 based on pricing bc he’s getting more bang for his buck, and by stature i think he just means the general feeling you get when you own a decent phone.

this is one of the 5 win7 htc phones should be very interesting

More expensive than IPhone 4?

If I had the cash I’d go for the IPhone 4. Better screen and more applications available on their app store. More than that, the stature that comes with using one.
