PLDT now offers 10Mbps DSL plan for Php4,000

Listen to article

In a TV commercial aired last Saturday, PLDT introduced a new DSL plan which offers up to 10Mbps for just Php4,000. That makes it the top broadband offering under the myDSL service line-up (PLDT MyDSL Plan 4000).

Prior to this, they have a Plan Xcel 3000 at 5Mbps. The Plan Xtreme 4000 doubles that speed up to 10Mbps. The plan is not yet up on their website but a release sent to us this evening shows the new one.

Take note though that this is for residential line and it’s not really a guaranteed speed. My 2Mbps Plan 1995 only gives me somewhere around 1Mbps so I’m thinking a Plan 10Mbps should deliver 5Mbps on a regular peak hours.

Anybody willing to shell out Php4,000 a month for 10Mbps?

4K for a 10mbps is too much … assuming you don’t get 10mbps which is always true btw…you only get half of what you pay for…tsk tsk

Sana sa mga subscription na ganyan may mga free 30-day trial period, bago ka pumirma ng contract. Para naman ma-experience muna ng mga subscribers kung gaaano talaga kabilis ang up to 10Mbps na yan.

Any feedback about skybroadband? Meron kasing 15 days free trial. Maganda kaya?

skybroadband is not that good in terms of speed as compared to globe. I’m trying out their 1mbps plan 999 free trial right now and i also just had globe 1mbps bundled with landline which has a fairly fast connection downside is globe has intermittent connection in our area (manggahan, pasig–ondoy stricken). i hope pldt is available here..

I have a 3Mbit Globe DSL that gives me 8-8.5Mbit downstream everyday since it was installed over 6 months ago – and my downstream caps out around 700Kbit.

Pretty good for a 3000/500 at 1995 peso.

Ang gamit ko ay 1mps BayanDSL satisfied talaga ako sa speed kasi I swear ang minimum speed na na-e-experience ko ay 800kbps. Tapos my burst speed na 1.2mbps. 2 weeks ko na siyang gamit. Ang location ko pala ay sa Sto. Domingo. Share lang. :D

We’ve been Plan 1995 on PLDT for nearly a decade now. They’ve delivered near (around 70-90%) their speed for most of the time and it’s been years since we’ve called anyone from PLDT for assistance. Then again, it could have something to do with the nearby PLDT office which is relatively large.

wow! kami plan 3000 lng sa PLDT. 5.3 mbps sya tuwing gabi.. pagka umaga 4.2mbps like ngaung tinatype ko to. sobrang bilis na nga ng 4mbps eh haha di uso loading sa youtube. pero dagdag ka 1k for 10mbps? sulit ha! contented talaga ako sa PLDT d2 sa amin.

honestly our internet service here is overpriced and slow…i dont know why our local telcos cant offer those packages from our neighbors…i lived in thailand for some months and we had a 12mbps connection for only 750 baht (roughly 900pesos)…and considering that pldt is held almost major by ntt then why cant they offer the same pricing scheme in japan (my sister has a 15mbps connection for 1500 yen monthly)…considering that we have one of the best broadband and telco facilities in the world…pera pera talaga maryosep

Again, as advertised, it is just the maximum speed (up to) achievable assuming all conditions are perfect. :) For the lucky few, they will reach this speed, but I doubt it for the majority.

Where is the fine print? Most probably it will state ““Minimum GPRS speed of 12-48kbps, where broadband service is available””. Or something similar that is applicable to their DSL links, maybe 384kbps minimum?

I subscribe to the 999 plan but for the past several months swerte ako to hit 5MBPs (20 days a month). What I don’t like about PLDT is their broadband capping, 40GB (1++GB per day) in a month balik na sa dialup ang speed ng Internet nila. Nakakainis kailangan mo pang tumawag sa call center nila para mareset sa dati kahit nagturn over na kalendaryo sa bagong month.

@abe wow 1 mbps lang ave ng connection niyo po? maybe its time to change ISP.

The problem with our internet connection here in manila is that is not consistent on all areas. There are some areas that a certain ISP works great and there some areas that they don’t.

I’m fortunate to be located where bayantel works great except for daily disconnections, I do get what I paid for.

I won’t shed out 4K for a PLDT dsl! The worse part about this ISP is their after sales service! It takes them 2 weeks or so to just respond to your problem and fix their lines.

Skybroadband is fast, but only for casual internet users. It does not support online gaming. In addition, torrent download is radically slowed down.

globelines broadband is better. Pag sinabi mong 3mbps, talagang 3mbps ang connection mo even during peak hours. .

I have the 3mb Excel in an old building in Pasay. In reality it gives me around 1MBps but it’s better than getting 500kbps on the lower plans.

10Mbps over copper wire? It’s doable if PLDT has high quality copper wiring. Higher speeds need higher quality wiring. Otherwise if you bump-up the speed, frequent disconnections follow. That is why existing PLDT customers who are subscribed to say 3mbps, overtime, copper wiring will degrade and you keep having frequent disconnections. Here comes a PLDT guy trying to fix your connection and the fix? Let you your modem manually negotiate at lower speed. So i doubt PLDT will be able to deliver that speed.

Yun ang mahirap e. You cannot opt to have the DSL alone. Kelangan may landline pa rin and that landline’s bill is on top of your DSL subscription bill.

I’ll just wait for Globe to upgrade their plans as well.

RE

I was a PLDT DSL subscriber before but we changed to globe DSL for the good.

For one thing that 4k plan will have to need a POSTPAID LANDLINE, so that is another 790 pesos on top of it.

WIth globe its just 2k a months for 3mbps but its still fast for surfing even my brothers are in torrent, online gaming and my mom on skype.

Pfffft. Pldt should stop rolling out new plans and concentrate on making their lines more stable and reliable. A lot of people complain about frequent disconnections and erratic speeds. They should focus on that first.
Look at PLDT’s fanpage on facebook, it’s filled with complaints. Why? Because of bad service. PLDT has no forum on their dsl site, so some dude made an unofficial PLDT page and people started going there to complain. How about PLDT’s official fanpage? You can’t post on the wall. You can only guess why.

What’s the use of your uber 10mbps if you can’t use it when it’s raining. You call PLDT and they tell you they don’t know what’s wrong and they’ll be sending a tech out. Tech comes when it’s not raining so they say there’s no problem. It rains again and you have no internet again and the cycle continues.

Seriously PLDT. What’s up with you?
