Pugo! the Pinoy Flappy Bird, #1 on Top Charts

Talk about Pinoy pride, the Flappy Bird-inspired Pugo! ranked first in App Store’s Top Charts for free games. It has only been released less than a week ago, and positive reviews have already been flooding its page.

Update: According to co-creator Camy Cabral, Pugo! will be available for Android devices in two weeks as they are still currently working to fix the game’s laggy movement.

pugo

Pugo! was created by Manila-based couple Patrick Cabral and Camy Cabral. They are designers and artists who tried their luck making their first game app. Luckily, it was received warmly by people.

Same mechanics as Flappy Bird apply to Pugo! — tapping the screen to make it fly and dodge obstacles. In this game, you are a small pink quail that avoids trees while roaming around the forest. There’s also a happy background music which makes everything light and jolly.

The couple added a new element to the game which I think (former) Flappy Bird players will love: Extra lives! Watch out for Philippine flags and collect them as they save your quail’s behind when it crashes.

Pugo! is now available for download in the App Store. We will try to get in touch with the creators and ask if the game will also come to Android devices.

Cool! Galing naman first app ehh popular na agad ^^

  2. KUNG says:

it sucks. like other flappy birds theme, Because of curiosity why people downloading it, As far as I see, Splashy fish and flappy wings works for me…

    • KING says:

it sucks — oooohh, big words..

..but you did try to download, install and actually play the game for that lengthy and oh so convincing and academic conclusion?

so what’s your app contribution to the community oh high and mighty Pharisee then?

    • natsu says:

bakit po ba tinangal yung flappy bird?

    • some guy says:

He is entitled to his opinion. He thinks it sucks. None of us have any right to tell him to think otherwise.

One does not need to know how to make a game to criticize one. Movie critics are not directors. Sports analysts can’t play pro sports. This does not make their opinion any less valid. By your logic, you cannot say that food tastes good/bad unless you are a chef. That is, needless to say, ridiculous.

I am happy to inform you, however, that even by your ridiculous standard, I am qualified to have an opinion (I am a developer and my team has released an app that was far more successful than “Pugo!”). That opinion is that this game “sucks”.

  3. Bryan says:

    Please also try manila run.

    • the guy says:

wow! sukang suka! taga-san ka ba? di ka ba pinoy? at least KAMI may PRIDE.. ikaw wala na ata eh.. san bansa ka ngayon kasali? kung ayaw mo dito, lumayas ka!!! you should be proud at least, its our product..

    • trolalu says:

Haha. Tama.

Sabagay #TruthHurts. Wag na nating lokohin mga sarili natin. Thank you!

    • simultaneous says:

CRABMENTALITY yan ganyan kayo! just be happy to those who made this app.. buti nga merong pinoy na gumagawa ng app eh.. uhaw na uhaw @trolalu? di m masasabi yan dahil ang gobyerno nga natin di gumagawa ng paraan para makilala ang mga simpleng mamamayan na may angkin kakayahan. simpleng recognition nga lang masaya na tayo.. palibhasa di ka achiever no? kya bitter ka? hahaha yan lang naiisip q sau kng bakit mu nasabu na uhaw n uhaw.. hahha at ikaw naman same guy kung sukang suka ka na umunon k nlng ng bonamine.. hahahha

    • simultaneous says:

    • trulalo says:

    • wew says:

TO BE PINOY, kelangan ipagsigawan? Hehe. Hala naku, baka sunod yan trending na to sa twitter asking for “public apology”. Hehe.

    • wew says:

Ikaw na ang PINAKADAKILANG PROUD TO BE PINOY! :) Congrats! Pinagbubunyi ka ng buong Pilipinas. Proud na proud kami sayo. :)

    • simultaneous says:

      @truolalu
winning is winning.. kahit ba sabihin mu na pang 19th place lang kung ilan ba silang ng compete it is an achievement for most of filipinos.. try mu kaya lumahok sa competition.. at walang magsbi sau na pinoy pride? what will you feel? yang pinoy pride na yan ay moral support.. pampataas ng kompiyansa sa mga lumalahok sa competition.. kng ikaw e ndi proud wla na qng magagawa jan.. kaw yan eh.. but most of filipinos kc they tell to the world that they are proud being a filipino who can compete even to the best of the world. and sa x factor n sinasabi mo even na hindi US or UK un still ibang bansa pa rin un.. tsk.. at ano gs2 mu? manahimik lang tau habang tinatapaktapakan ng ibang lahi? kaya ganyan sila umasta dahil hindi tayo matitinag.. hahahaha laban kung laban!

    • wew says:

@simultaneous well said =) ang bottomline dito, kung anu ung nararamdaman mo wag mong ikahiya kung ung pagiging proud mo eh sa puntong ipagsisigawan mo,gawin mo,wala namang mali dun e.

    • trolalu says:

Proud to be pinoy, Yaaass! Angat talaga ang pinoy! Yaaass!

    • Arianette says:

Super agree ako diyan. Okay lang siguro magpakita ng tuwa at MODEST amount of pride without coming off as arrogant. Yung iba pa up to the extent na nilalalahat ng pinoy ang kagalingan.

Like, nanalo si manny or si charice or si osang tapos ang logic biglang = filipinos are good at boxing/singing. Kung maka kuha ng credit eh wagas! Tapos hamunin mo eh isang sampal lang, iiyak na, or pag kumanta, nakamamatay! Kadiri to death!!!

    • wew says:

      Nyhahahaha

  8. wew says:

yeah…HATERS everywhere kesyo copycat lng.andaming games sa appstore na puro copycat lng ng ibang games pero hindi sumisikat, kaya nakakaproud talaga to lalo nat gawang pinoy. tska next time kung maiinis kayu dahil kopyado lng to,sana cinriticize nyu din ung design ng flappy bird na kopyado sa super mario.

  9. CptTeemo says:

I believe the title of this post is a bit misleading, it should read “Pugo the pinoy flappy bird #1 on top charts for the Philippines.” The title as is, implies that a Filipino made app, one that would obviously only be downloaded by Filipino users because of use of the country flag as some kind of pride/nationalism thing, has become a world wide success, reaching #1 on worldwide charts, when this is not the case at all. This app is #1 in the Philippines only and is not even in the top 100 on any other countries charts at the moment.

  10. Kumander Robot says:

gara siguro pag may game na base on current events?

    like

    1.) scarborough shoal/spratly defense game.
2.) beat the corrupt feat. the senators/people involve sa PDAF scam
3.) Get raped in 60 seconds
4.) Starlet dress up/make up game

malamang papatok talaga yan sa appstore or google store. hehehehehehe

  11. dags says:

Not running in stable, silky smooth 60 fps = No download

Please fix the skippy framerate of the game!

  12. floppypipe says:

I made this app, Floppy Pipe. I don’t consider this as a clone because it’s a different concept. I’m the very first who submitted that kind of app in Google & Itunes. I hope media could also pick up my app and get viral. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OepCHWKbYVA

  13. Ex-Alodian Knight says:

I wanna play this and does this even have an “MMO” mode like Flammo?

  14. Android version is coming very soon… See our interview with the creators here http://www.pinoypoint.com/threads/pugo-game-interview-with-the-founder.64/

  15. Eric says:

I also developed a pinoy version of tic tac toe. It’s called tic tac toe movable. We pinoys call it tapatan/taytayan. I used to play this using tansan (bottle caps) and play board drawn on a pavement or paper. Please try and comment. Thanks! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.therabytes.tictactoemovable

  16. Heya i’m for the primary time here. I found this
