How to Send an International Text Message?

This “How To” is for Sun Cellular subscribers only:

1. Go to the “Write Message” menu of your mobile phone and compose your message there.

2. Select “Send” from the Messages submenu of your mobile phone.

3. Input destination number, if you are sending to recipient not listed in the directory or scroll to the desired recipient from your address book.

4. Please remember to put a + sign, the designated country code, operator code, and mobile number.

5. Press “OK” to send.

6. Wait for the “Message Sent” notification.

How to upload a ringtone to your phone.

This is a short list fo ways to upload/download a ringtone to your mobile phone unit. There are plenty of ways actually, but most of the time, you will need a connection betwen your PC and your phone.

  • RS232 cable. The older phone untis use this cable to connect your PC to your phone. It’s a serial cable and can be had for Php150 to Php300 in Greenhills or other phone shops.
  • IR-to-PC cable. If your phone has an Infrared port, you can go get an IR-to-PC cable. It’s a little slow though.
  • Bluetooth. This is the latest option but still rarely used. You can buy a USB bluetooth dongle connected to your PC’s USB drive and just enable bluetooth connection on your phone. Radius is around 5 feet.
  • USB port. Some newer models of phones have a built-in USB port. pricey though.
  • Mobile Network. You mobile network company offers ringtones and other MMS items for a flat fee. You can subsribe to that to get the latest tones and downloads. MMS costs about Php5 to Php25 per download.

With all the PC to phone connection, you will need to install a phone manager like the Nokia PC Suite.

How to convert .3GP movies

You will need to download and install QuickTime Pro from Apple.com. It comes free with iTunes 5.1

  • Open a .3gp movie in QuickTime Player.
  • Press File -> Export. Enter filename.
  • Choose type of output file (Export: Movie to AVI (.AVI) or Movie to Quicktime Movie (.MOV)).
  • For AVI: press Options -> Video Settings -> choose DV – PAL (for better quality of re-compression).
