Introducing the new YugaTech logo

Listen to article

Been coordinating with our web designer (a kick-ass designer if I might add) for more than 3 months to come up with a new logo design for YugaTech and I’m very happy with the results so I’m sharing it with you ahead of schedule.

It’s a little edgy but still a bit simple and we’re sticking with the orange color scheme (the two font colors will adopt the orange and blue as well as the gray scale version, depending on the format where it will be used).

We’re in the final stages of the new blog theme re-design and, hopefully, we will be able to release that by middle of this month. Then after that, I’ll concentrate on the apps again. We’re also doing some t-shirts and other stuff with the new logo to give-away to readers.

Let me know what you think!

Nice typography yuga, though the ‘G’ looks a little too much like the Gaisano logo as jan pointed out.

another nit (to pick): i would also prefer the shape of the Y on your logo to be the same as the one on the lettering. if you notice, the point of intersection is lower on the logo than on the lettering. :D

hindi ko type. masyadong robotic yung logo. also, in my opinion orange doesn’t represent anything about tech :)

i prefer symmetry and equal lettering spaces, so the wording doesn’t really work for me. the logo is okay, though.

yung sa lettering, what i mean is:
– some letters overlap and others don’t
– because of the overlaps, some letters are partially blocked (such as the U and T), w/c makes the spacing unequal
– the “G” is a special design (power switch, w/c is a really nice touch) but is made to look like the rest of the letters – better if the color/size/font is different to make it stand out

i would have preferred it to look something like this: http://i52.tinypic.com/2ueh0tx.jpg

just my humble opinion, though. :) great site, btw!

That 3 polygons that forms a ‘Y’ Can be the Favicon for this site, but even though, I am already used with the recent one. Because it’s easy to identify in my bookmarks if I see the face of sir Abe.hehe

Like the ‘YUGATECH’ logo but not with the icon ‘Y’. ‘Y’ to me is synomous to a well known search engine. But, ‘Yugatech’ I am hoping sir Abe may one day be a household name like some technology search engine. You want to know about some new technology, just go to yugatech and kaboom! It displays the info tech that you need.

I just think YUGATECH without the icon ‘Y’ is future proof and will not be mis-interpreted as that search engine that also starts in ‘Y’.

And let me say it again. .I really adore the Logo Creator, I have been inspired very much because of this. I got alot of ideas from it.

Nice work! I like this new logo. And that polygonized “Y” would make a nice favicon as well (have to agree with @JEJEJE about the current favicon — no offense meant since it’s your pix).

BTW, I think I saw you in MOA last Jan 1 (when I was still in Manila) around 2:30pm by the elevators. Were you there? I was a bit doubtful and was taken by surprise that I failed to simply ask. :)

Pwede bang mahiram yang designer mo? ^^

The logo looks a little mechanical but i’m digging the “G”. As for the symbol, i don’t quite get it. IMHO, Yugatech stood the test of time without the symbol so why start now? Maybe play with the typography more. Overall, I’d say 50/50.

Abe, it is nice but I hope you can still reconsider to keep it simple. Honestly, it is difficult to read especially for those who haven’t known your brand yet.

The “power logo” can be mistaken as either an “E” or a “C”

The “T” can be mistaken as “1”

It is easy to read for those already familiar to your site. But to those who are not, it requires more effort to decipher and might not be helpful in your branding.

Just my 2 cents.

And it is still your call, your brand and your website.

Congrats and Happy New Year!

Finally. Then replace your favicon on the site too. The favicon really sucks.

I’ll be waiting for the new theme. Cheers!

@cristine – I’m still reviewing all the finalist of thats contest. It has taken me more time than expected since there were 3 other contests we did for December. This is the only one we have not finished. Please give me 1 week to finalize the top 10 and the final winner. Thanks!
