List of Devices that support 700MHz LTE

Listen to article

Now that both Globe and PLDT/Smart partly owns the much-coveted 700MHz LTE frequency, the next question is which smartphones support this band? So we looked into the entire line of smartphones that supports the 700MHz frequency.

There are two potential bands in the 700MHz frequency that we are looking — Band 12 (700MHz) and Band 28 (700MHz). We’re not still sure which of the two will be deployed by Globe and Smart but for the purposes of this chart, we looked into Band 28 (700MHz) since it’s the band where a lot of devices are supported. Update: According to a source inside the telco, they are still waiting for NTC to assign which band to use.

Some devices are very highly compatible, like the Huawei P9/P9 Plus, LG G5, and the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, since they both support Band 12 and Band 28 of the 700MHz frequency (see also: List of Devices Supporting LTE 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 700MHz).

We’re still adding to this table as we find new devices. Also, note that a lot of the devices that different variants depending on the region, some of the devices listed above and distributed in the Philippines may not support the 700MHz frequency. The same is true with the chipsets — not all devices running the same chipset may support the band. We will make additional footnotes as we go along.

Do chime in on the comments section below if you think we missed a device.

I’m not a techie enthusiast, I want to ask if I should or shouldn’t get a wifi that supports the 700mhz band. I’m on a hunt for a LTE pocket wifi which I have a tight budget around 2k php and doesn’t know what to buy and I don’t want to be locked up on a single network. Please help me. Thank you.

I used to have poor to no internet access in our residential area, or even when traversing EDSA. This changed all of a sudden sometime last week. Not only do i have good internet access on the locations specified earlier, I am also now able to go online in elevators, bathrooms, and other areas that normally have poor signal reception. Could this be a result of the improved frequency?

I’m using a Samsung S6 Edge and a SUN postpaid subscriber, btw.

So kakawa naman kaming mga local brand and mediatek users, hindi namin mararamdaman yang speed na yan, #internetforall by MVP is not for all, its only for those people who who have that kind chipset and unit.

Hindi naman kasalanan ni MVP na yan ang biniling unit ng local brands para sa Pilipinas at yan lang ang afford mo.

Wala rin namang inalis na support sina MVP, nagdagdag sila ng susuportahan.

Will the use of the 700Mhz band also benefit subscribers of PLDT Ultera for example? It seems that the focus now is on cellphones that are able to use this band.

Yup, LTE band 12 and 28 are the most qualified to be assigned here in PH since band 17 is already a subset of band 12 and only 1 device available here in the Philippines that I know of that supports LTE band 13, that is the Galaxy S7 (Exynos variant).
