Comelec finishes printing of ballots for 2022 national elections

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has completed printing on Saturday the last batch of 67.4 million official ballots for the upcoming May 9 national and local elections.

Per COMELEC, they finished printing at around 10:28AM on April 2 in the National Printing Office, ahead of the target date, April 25.

The ballot printing started on January 23, and the latest batch of printed ballots will undergo verification process.

According to an article from Inquirer.net, there are 319,138 overall “quarantined” ballots and 178,990 defective ballots as of Saturday, COMELEC Commissioner George Garcia told in a Viber message to reporters.

Quarantined ballots are found to be having problems or defects and are set aside from the same batch, then shredded.
