The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is gearing up for another technology fair early next year to explore new automated election systems (AES) that may be used in future polls. COMELEC spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said the fair will help the agency review modern voting technologies and evaluate which systems are best suited for the country’s elections. “As early as next year, you will see COMELEC conduct a more in-depth research where we will have a technology fair again,” he shared in Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon. COMELEC previously used automated counting machines from Miru Systems during the May 2025 polls. The last AES tech fair was held in 2019 with DICT and the COMELEC Advisory Council. The National Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday has announced the five initial locations in the National Capital Region to be involved in its Register Anywhere Project (RAP) pilot run from December 17, 2022 to January 22, 2023. “Nagkataon pong hindi kayo nakatira sa Metro Manila at gusto niyo pa rin bumoto doon sa munisipyo ninyo, halimbawa Tuguegarao o taga-Cavite, nagkatoon nandito kayo, puwede po kayo pumunta sa register anywhere booth,” Comelec spokesperson Atty. The required voter's information such as their registration form, documents, fingerprints and other biometrics will be taken on-site and then Comelec sends the data to the municipality/city of the voter.
