Grok AI now open sourced, available for public downloads

Grok, the AI chatbot of social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), now has its older Grok 2.5 model as an open source site. With it being open sourced, users can also download the said model.

The public can now access X’s AI without going through the social media platform. It is now available as an open source website.

Grok’s model has been uploaded in Hugging Face for users to try, download, and even slightly adjust for themselves. Users cannot, however, use the model to train, create or improve other AI models.

Elon Musk, Executive Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of X, posted that Grok 3 will be ready in about six months which is around the first quarter of 2026.
