The Land Transportation Office (LTO) will hold a dry run of its online vehicle registrations and driver’s license renewal system. The move is part of the agency’s modernization efforts, moving away from face-to-face transactions and eliminating the need for fixers.

The LTO will work with transport groups for the system’s pilot. This will come with orientation sessions to guide users through the new process.
Along with the registration’s digital rollout, the LTPO will also test an updated motor vehicle inspection process.
Light vehicles are now required to undergo checks that focus on brakes and speedometers at district offices. Meanwhile, bigger vehicles (trucks, buses) can be checked via mobile units that will visit respective garages.
To alleviate ‘no-shows’ for inspections, the agency will use tablets with photo checklists instead of traditional paper forms. This ensures that vehicles will be physically present during the process.
The new system aims to make registration easier for motorists, cutting down long lines and time taken from physical transactions. We’ll update readers should there be more notable updates to the LTO’s new digital initiative.

Is this only applying to PH citizens who consistently register their own cars yearly? Are all PH vehicles being checked with their yearly registrations, from jeepneys, to luxury cars?
